Laparoscopic Ovariohysterectomy (spay) surgery
Laparoscopic surgery, sometimes known as “keyhole surgery”, is the most minimally invasive surgical option we can provide for an ovariohysterectomy (spay). Some of the many advantages of a Laparoscopic surgery over traditional ovariohysterectomy include:

  • Smaller incision site
  • Less bleeding
  • Less trauma to the surrounding tissue
  • Less postoperative pain/ reduced need for pain medication
  • Quicker recovery time

The procedure is performed by cutting a small incision in the pet’s belly. A special miniature laparoscopic camera is then inserted into the hole. Real-time photo images from the camera are displayed on a monitor, allowing the veterinarian to view individual organs inside the pet and to guide their surgical instruments. This minimally invasive surgical option includes additional surgical time, state of the art laparoscopic equipment and our doctor’s extensive training. These patient benefits equate to the additional cost of about $200.

NOTE: We make every effort to keep the pricing on these pages accurate, but pricing is subject to change. We will print you out an accurate treatment plan at the time of your pet’s visit.

* These vaccines may not be necessary for your pet’s lifestyle. We customize your puppy’s vaccines according to his/her needs. We will create an accurate treatment plan with you at your first appointment. If a vaccination is not applicable to your pet’s lifestyle, then there will be no need for the technician appointment at that age either.

*** PT (prothrombin time) and PTT (partial thromboplastin time) are blood tests that measure clotting (coagulation) factors. These tests are ideally run before any surgical procedure to check for bleeding problems. Some clients may choose to decline this bloodwork.
